Step THREE: Use Polaris

Sample Patrons & Items

Test Drive users often start with Circulation so it really helps to have some sample data.  You’re welcome to search the database and generate your own examples, but here are a few you can use to get you started.

Below are a set of one page examples in .pdf format.  Each page has two patrons (one “good,” one “blocked”) and six items.  Download and print out as many of the example sets as you need:

Be aware that everyone (you, your staff and staff from other libraries) using the Test Drive system has access to these examples.  At any given time the data may be in one state of use or another; for example, some of the sample items may be currently checked out.  If that’s the case – just see it as an opportunity to try out the check in features!

While you’re here, visit the Polaris Tips & Tricks page.  You’ll find some very brief articles on how to use Polaris more effectively.  We pass along some fundamental concepts our client libraries learn when their staff is trained on Polaris.
